Now for all you North Bay nostalgia fans an old picture, made in 1976, of the Bill Booth store. It was torn down a long time ago but many people have very fond memories of the place. It was a pity they did not save the front because it was small enough to be placed in the North Bay Museum. Enjoy.

My dad would take me into Bill Booth's store - heated with an old pot-bellied wood stove - to buy some gum every so often. Bill knew both my Dad and grandfather - good english gentlemen.

My dad went to Billy Booth's all the time as a teenager in the late 40s. He and I went back in the 70s, when the store was still there.
Sure enough, Billy was there. We grabbed a couple of Cokes, and he came up to my dad and said, "You look familiar - did you used to come in here?" Omigoodness, my dad was so happy. I have a photo of the two of them in front of the store somewhere. If I can dig it up, I'll post it.
I lived nearby on Worthington St. W. in the early 60's and used to buy 2nd hand comics at Billy Booths store. He was my mother's second husband Jack Croghan's uncle on his mother's side, (Alice Booth). Billy played golf even though polio left him with a withered arm and weak on one side. He got a "hole in one" once at Pinewood Golf course. As a result of polio he leaned to one side and his store leaned to one side as well. I have fond memories of his store. He had that store going back into the 40's and parts of it should have been preserved as part of North Bays special places.
