EROSION

I made a series of pictures of the erosion of the newly built parking lots at the education Centre here in North Bay. While the natural landscape has been compromised by the building of these lots, it is a good subject for strong black and white images.

REEDS, LAKE NIPISSING

This is another image of our short trip on Lake Nipissing. It looks like a pen and ink over a watercolour wash. Hope you like it.

FALL EVENING, LAKE NIPISSING

My friend Gerry invited me on a little photo excursion on Lake Nipissing. it was a pity that the weather did not cooperate but I was able to get a few nice images. So we will try again next week.

EARLY MORNING

The strength of this image is its simplicity. I always try to reduce my pictures to some very basic design  elements as in this image with its lines and pattern of the red posts. Also I like the definition of Andreas Feininger, who said that a good photograph should have "stopping power". It is the quality which makes an image visually interesting.
Rob Greenfield wrote to remind me to mention that our show, Sky and Water, will run until the 30th of October. So if you are in the Callander area go and have a look.

GARDEN, ELORA, ON

I made this image a few weeks ago while visiting the very picturesque town of Elora in Southern Ontario. I also like to thank Rob for his comment about the show in Callander. The opening was well attended actually, considering the beautiful weekend. So thanks to everybody who came out to see our work.

MAPLE, RIDEAU HALL

Today I am almost ready with the final preparations for the Sky and Water exhibition. Rob was surprised I had never visited Rideau Hall. Well not completely true, I toured the building many years ago with a group of my students however it was mid winter so I did not walk the grounds. This year's walk in the park was a first for me.

FOUNTAIN, RIDEAU HALL, OTTAWA

This was my first visit to Rideau Hall, the residence of the Governor General of Canada. I liked this fountain but preferred the black and white image over a full colour picture, which lacked visual impact.

SKY & WATER EXHIBITION

It has been a very frustrating week for Claire and myself. First opening the exhibition was delayed then we were assured that the gallery would provide us with printed invitations. Well we are still waiting but we suspect that it will be too late to mail them. So we are somewhat anxious if people will actually attend our opening. Anyway enough complaining, the show looks great and we hope to see many of you at the opening next Saturday.

WALL, AYLMER, QC

Just the blue line is what attracted me to this subject. The final image reminds me of some of the paintings by the Spanish artist Antoni Tàpies, a painter I really admired in my younger art college days.

VICTORIA CAFE, ALMONTE

Today I was trying out a variety of colour to black and white actions. I am interested to see which actions would work in Photoshop Elements. In the new version of Elements you can use actions created in the full versions of Photoshop. There are a wide variety of actions you can download from the net but, I discovered, that not all actions will work. This image was created using an action called LAB action. I liked the result the overall sepia tone is just right and I particularly enjoy the rich tones of this picture.

AYLMER, QC

At last another posting, again it has been a crazy time for me. Last week I finally finished framing all my pictures then I had to leave for Ottawa again for a short family visit. happily I did have some time to spare so i could roam around taking pictures. Anonymous asked for some information about the exhibition in Callander. Well, the show is open even though the official opening is not until the 19th of September. So if you want to attend the opening you are hereby invited or you can just go and enjoy the pictures now.
