PARKING LOTS, NORTH BAY

The picture show the holding ponds for the run off water coming from the newly built parking lots at the Educational Centre here in North Bay. I think creating huge parking lots show a lack of foresight. It simply destroys the natural setting around the complex. Instead they could have built a parking garage or better still develop a bettre transit system.

Is this "pond" a permanent fixture? What a great place to breed mosquitos.

Don't it always seem to go

Yes this pond is permanent. It is a catch basin for the runoff from the parking lots. Of course its a breeding ground for mosquitoes but what I think is worse that eventually this polluted water will end up in Lake Nipissing. Pretty sad that an educational institution is so shortsighted.

Great shot Mike, shame though about the pollution
