ATWOOD MEN'S CLUB, ATWOOD, ONTARIO

Driving through the small town of Atwood in Southern Ontario, I noticed this peculiar building called the Atwood Men's club. I am very curious about this club. Anyway this picture is for my friend Rob who is interested in seeing the photograph.

Now there's a club to join!!!
I wonder what goes on behind that door? If it's anything like the Scotch Club in a 2nd Vaenue shed, it would be a good place to go.

I grew up within a stones throw of this building!!! The smell of cigar smoke still takes me back to the early 1970's, when all the local men would gather to play cards and gossip like old women. The local men (mostly over 60) would sit outside on a bench in front of this building, smoking and passing comments at all the passers-by. We children would benefit from all their wisdom and stories.

Sometimes, I long to return to the simple days of childhood. Thanks for the memories

June 24/08 If this building is on Main Street, Atwood, I would say it was the Old Atwood Post Office, as I remember it when we moved to Atwood, in April 1942, from Buffalo, Alberta. I recall getting the mail and sending parcels, as I entered that door!
