CHRYSLER, 1931 HOOD ORNAMENT

Last Saturday I visited the Carp antique autoshow. One car in particular was definitely my favourite. It was a 1931 Chrysler Deluxe Coupe. Everything on this car was authentic. The owner, Mr. Norman Legault, told me that he had spend years restoring it and still was not finished. I really liked the various details and had to make a picture of the hood ornament, which is an excellent example of 1930s design.

Those sort of ornaments would certainly be swiped off crs and trucks today.

The cherry on the cake, no doubt about it. You can imagine the image of that classic car in its prime, with the hood ornament leading the way. It's such a gorgeous thing, too, and it would be a real treat to see a classic car like that back on the road, fully restored.

Ya, it's quite wonderful. It is as if it were the one leading the car in a charge. The hood ornament is at the very front of a car, so it's natural that it should evoke speed or style.
